What is Period?

Period is a brand created by three girls who dream of a better world. Sounds a bit boring? Maybe. But for these three girls, a better world begins with better days and having a clear conscience not to harm the environment, body and mind. Period is also "end point" in English. That same point and end that represents all the rules that we want to break. The first? That of erasing the image of menstruation as a taboo.

What does Period do?

Success! It's a joke with a real background, huh?

Initially, Period makes menstrual panties. Very soon we plan to make all kinds of products that can make a difference not only to people, but to the world.

Why is it called Period?

Besides “period”, Period is also the same as “final point” in English. That same point is what represents all the rules that we feel like breaking. If you close your eyes, what things come to mind that you would like to put an end to? Well, with the birth of Period comes an end to the unwritten rules that were imposed on women. You will be more than used to hearing that menstruation is not talked about, that menstruation is a reason for shame, that you cannot wear the clothes you want, that we cannot feel sexy on those days of the month, that blood is disgusting. to the people, that women cannot feel comfortable, that there are no options to take care of the environment, and most importantly, that women have to be perfect at all times. But should we really see this as normal? If you sign up to put an end to any of these things, we help you do it. Put Period on.

Do the Periods swell?

No! Period panties do not swell when absorbing vaginal fluids and nothing causes them to change their volume.

Can I wear them all day?

Like other products for menstruation, the time that Period panties can be worn depends on the moment of the cycle and the amount of menstruation or vaginal discharge. We recommend paying attention early on to learn how long your Periods will work well for your flow and whether or not you need to change your Periods throughout the day. When you feel wet, it's time to change them! This sensation is because it has already reached the absorption limit. Also, if you don't feel safe, you can take them with the cup on days with more flow.

How to take care of my Period panties?

You can wash your Period like any other underwear item:

  • by hand (in the shower for example)
  • machine (wash them at a maximum of 30º and never dry), along with other clothes (and that's okay, there's no need to wash them alone).
To preserve the absorbency properties of the technical fabric of the Period, we recommend that you use a soap without softening agents, natural oils, or Marseille soap, but you can use neutral or intimate soap.

Important tip: If, once washed, the part of the bridge is a little stiff, it is important that you wash your Periods again, either by rubbing the area well by hand, or by washing them inside out in the washing machine. The bridge area should be soft and flexible to ensure maximum absorbency. Do not put them in the dryer so as not to damage the waterproof part.

Don't forget to use the wash bag that comes with your Period :)

Oh, by the way, and no ironing, okay?

Is it normal for the panties to lose some color at the bottom?

Yeah! This can happen, but it is super normal and the panties do not lose their absorption features. Surely it has happened to you with your normal panties, so we explain why. Vaginal fluids and even menstruation can cause discoloration in the part of the cotton fabric that is in contact with the skin.
This is because our vaginal pH level is somewhat high. The color inside the panty is similar to rust. pH is the scale used to measure the level of acidity or alkalinity of a substance. Its values range from 0 to 14 and those in position 7 are considered neutral, such as blood and pure water. The acids are below the average and the alkalines are above it. The vagina has a pH between 3.8 and 4.5, which makes it slightly acidic. This creates a protective barrier, which prevents bacteria from multiplying quickly and causing an infection, a sign that your vagina is working properly and is protected from disease.

The pack with 3 may be enough, but each person is a world. It depends on your menstrual flow and how long your cycle lasts.

What is the packaging?

Our packaging is a gift to you. It is a bag that is used to wash and care for your Period. Ideal for the washing machine 🙂

Will I feel dry?

You may feel a bit wet as soon as your period comes down, but the sensation then disappears thanks to the absorbent properties of the cotton and the technical fabric. But watch out! If you start to feel clammy, it's time to change!

Will I smell?

Not even remotely! You will realize that the odors with the compresses were the product of the mixture of blood with the large amount of plastic they have. With Period panties, the technical fabrics are also antibacterial and prevent odors.

How often should I change my Periods?

That depends on the people. Each panty supports a different amount of flow, so when you feel wet, remember that's the limit and it's time to change. We recommend paying attention early on to see how long your Periods will work for your flow and whether or not you need to change your Periods throughout the day.

How long will they last me?

If you take good care of your Period and use the bag in the washing machine, the functions of the technical fabric will last at least 50 washes or up to 3 years. Everything also depends on the frequency of use and the number of menstrual panties you have to change. Afterwards, although your Periods lose their functions, they can be worn as normal panties until the "end of their days".

And for urine incontinence?

All Period have four layers of technical fabrics capable of absorbing all kinds of vaginal fluids: menstruation, sweat, vaginal fluids, and slight urine incontinence. They are quick-drying, waterproof, breathable, antibacterial and antifungal fabrics and since they do not contain plastic, they do not smell.
